Useful Tips for Increasing Blade Life!

It is very important to know that all wet cutting blades must be used with water as a coolant. Dry cutting blades can be used wet or dry and in most applications adding water to a dry cut blade will increase the life of the blade. When a job requires dry cutting depths greater than 2 inches it is important to make multiple passes with the saw of only 1-2 inches a pass, until full depth is reached. This process is called step cutting. When dry cutting with a blade it is important to allow the blade to air cool periodically to avoid overheating and damaging the blade. To prevent overheating cut with the blade for 30 to 60 seconds then back off of the material and allow the blade to spin freely for 10 to 20 seconds. This process allows the blade to spin up to speed again and increases the airflow around the blade. For other tips see the last two pages of our current catalog.
